Really nice and original British worn MKII helmet, typical original South-African made example with the dessert camouflage, often used by the ‘Dessert rats’.
The helmet is marked Jager-rand 1942 and size 6 3/4.
Inside you can see the original desser camouflage color, but, the outside is darker.
This happend alot in the Italian campaign. The original yellow camouflage was too light and the troops darkened the helmet with cosmoline or gasoline with result a nice, dark yellow helmet like this one.
This helmet is a true survivor and definitely saw combat in Africa and Italy!
