U.S Ford GPW June 1942, GPW345xx

Very nice and older restoration, Ford GPW.

This GPW has a Pacific history and was imported to Europe in 2005. The original chassis number is very hard to read, but we estimate the serial number to be either GPW 345xx or GPW 845xx (or something close to this), which would place its production in June or November 1942. Please feel free to request a picture of the chassis number so you can judge for yourself.

A post-war army number has been added to the chassis, and import papers from 2005 are available, which should make it possible to get a license plate.

This jeep was restored some time ago but remains mechanically sound. The gearbox shifts very smoothly, and the transfer case works perfectly in low, high, and 4×4 settings without any issues.

The engine is a post-war chain Go Devil engine (the correct type, but post-war). If you’d like more information about the differences, please don’t hesitate to ask. The entire system runs on 12v. The engine number is L119574.

The body is an early Willys ‘Script’ body with the Willys marking at the rear. The body presents somewhat of a mystery—while many features indicate it’s an original body, some parts suggest the presence of replica body panels. However, there is no rust, and the body is in good condition.

The rims are not original and are from the post-war period.

This Jeep is a good runner and ready to go, but a few tasks need to be completed to make her perfect:

  • Replace rims (tires can be reused as they are in good condition).
  • Replace wiring harness.
  • Replace rear seat canvas and top cover canvas with correct types.
  • General maintenance, such as replacing oil.

This is a great starter vehicle, priced a bit lower due to the hard-to-read chassis number, but a jeep with lots of potential.
