Here we have a pretty rare WW2 stoneware rum ration jar made by Pearsons & Co of Chesterfield and dated 1940 on the base. These are more common during WW1 in the trenches and is the first I’ve seen from the Second World War. Large, this is a gallon size, it is in excellent condition with a few time related hairlines to the glaze. Solid and different! Often said by the troops to represent ‘Seldom Reaches Destination’ or ‘Soon runs Dry’ but really it stood for: ‘Supply Reserve Depot’.
