Here we offer an original U.S Marine Corps Military Field Canteen with the original cup and canvas cover from WW2 produced by the U.S.S Co (United States Steel Corperation). The US Marine Corps in WW2 introduced many innovative field gear designs that were different from the standard Army issue. One of the most distinctive pieces of ‘Leatherneck’ equipment was the “bunny ears” cross flap canteen cover, specially designed for amphibious assaults.
The canteen is of black enameld finished aluminium and has a screw-on black plastic cap attached with a chain to the canteen. The bottom is marked U.S. U.S.S Co 1942. The canvas cover has two cross flap pull snaps and hooks in the back.
