Really nice U-Boot Kriegsabzeichen, nicely marked ‘Schwerin Berlin 68’.
This Abzeichen were used for Kriegsmarine U-Boot crews and were awarded after 2 patrols, which could take months or after being wounded or killed in action.
On October 13, 1939, the U-boat War Badge was reinstituted, It was very similar to the original badge with the exception of the imperial crown being replaced with a German eagle above a swastika, and a more modernized submarine now facing towards the left was used. The new version was first made of bronze metal, with later ones made of zinc with a “gold wash”.
Later in the war most of the crews died in the first patrol, so this Abzeichen was hard to receive late in the war.
Made of “Bundmetall” and covered in a Gold wash, this version is in a very good and presentable condition. Perfect for U-Boot displays.
